🌋 Introduction

Founded January 2023 with the mission of helping communities across the United States through weather information, storm tracking, and communication safety via Zello channels and related services.

We are a volunteer organization dedicated to keeping the radio hobby safe, enjoyable, and professional for everyone. We welcome all people and do not discriminate against anyone.

Membership may be refused if leadership determines it is necessary for the safety and well-being of the team.

🔒 General Rules

  1. No Racism or Discrimination — We welcome people from all backgrounds.
  2. No Bullying — Cyberbullying and harassment via any platform is prohibited.
  3. No Sexual Harassment — Prohibited in all channels. Violations may result in removal.
  4. No Drama — Unnecessary conflict will not be tolerated.
  5. No Favoritism — All members are treated equally and fairly.
  6. Channel Safety — Do not add people to channels without leadership permission.
  7. Dispatch Coverage — Dispatchers may not leave shifts until properly relieved.
  8. Updated Contact Info — Notify leadership of any phone or email changes.
  9. Respect All Members — Kindness and professionalism are required at all times.
  10. Chain of Command — Follow the established chain of command.

📝 Rules Continued

  1. Confidentiality — Do not share private SWS business without authorization.
  2. Under the Influence — No member may provide services under the influence.
  3. Professionalism — Weather channels must remain professional during operations.
  4. Weather Team Response — Report to assigned areas during severe weather events.
  5. Meeting Conduct — Stay focused; avoid other channels during meetings.
  6. No Politics or Religious Debates — Prohibited in official channels.
  7. No Promotion of Other Groups — Requires leadership approval.
  8. Mandatory Meetings — Mandatory unless excused by leadership.
  9. Radar Room Conduct — Mild social conversation allowed only when operations permit.

⚙ Operational Regulations

  • Members are encouraged to submit ideas and suggestions.
  • Member problems should go to the Care Manager Channel or leadership.
  • Contracts and applications are updated yearly.
  • New Facebook members may serve a 30-day probation period.
  • Hurricane briefings should occur the day before landfall.

🚨 Alert Code Levels

🔴 CODE RED — Social channels may be locked.
🟠 CODE ORANGE — Triggered by severe thunderstorms.
🟡 CODE YELLOW — Hurricanes remain Yellow until threat passes.
